Jurnished quarters are provided for Nursing Sisters. It is usually possible to secure in advance accommodation for lady teachers at reasonable rates either at a boarding house or at the Helena May Institute, which is a sort of Lady's Club.

III. Mying Conditions.

Nursing Sisters live together in the Quarters provided and have the privileges of free fuel and light, free laundry, and servants to attend on them. Their expenses are fully covered by their salary,

It is calculated that the inclusive expenses of a newly joined Assistant Mistress in the Education Department would not exceed $225.00 a month, provided that a fair outfit suitable to the climate of Hongkong has been brought out. The largest extra so far as they are concerned is the annual summer holiday; but the amount spent on this differs so much with the individual that no definite sum can be given. Later on expense will probably increase when clothes need renewal and there may be a certain amount of entertain- ing, however quiet.
